About the Mount
The College: A private, Catholic, four-year liberal arts college founded by the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Newburgh in 1959. The Mount is committed to providing an education rich in the liberal arts and grounded in the strong Judeo-Christian traditions upon which it was founded.
Location: Newburgh, New York. The Mount is conveniently located halfway between downtown Manhattan and New York's capital city, Albany, perfect for internship and entertainment opportunities.
Enrollment/Student Body Profile: Our student body is comprised of 2,600+ students representing over 16 states and several countries. Average class size is 21.
Academic Programs: The Mount offers well over fifty undergraduate programs in a variety of disciplines leading to a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree. The college also offers master's degrees in education, business administration, and nursing.
Student/Faculty Ratio: 17:1
Financial Aid: More than 88% of Mount Saint Mary students received financial aid in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, or part-time employment based on academic promise or need.
Housing: Many first-year students reside in style in Sakac Hall or Guzman Hall. Both halls feature suite-style living, movie lounges, computer rooms, recreation areas, laundry facilities, and workout rooms. Most upperclassmen live in the College Courts, our townhouse-like residences on campus. The College Courts were recently renovated and feature more student space and comfortable living arrangements. All residence halls have semi-private bathrooms, kitchens, lounges, cable, and wireless Internet access.
